"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is time for home."

Exactly, a time for home. We all know of the dog days of summer; these are the cat days of winter. The days we all want to curl up some place toasty warm, eat, sleep and maybe watch the winter birds out the window in the afternoon. But it isn’t always that easy to set aside the to-do list. After Christmas there are decorations to put away, lights to take down, items to return, and eventually we run out of leftovers and need to go to the store to restock the pantry shelves.

Framing Ideas For Winter Time

Winter Blog Feature Continued

These post-holiday days when there is slightly less chaos than in November and December are a perfect time to review and reassess your artwork. Many people take down summer pictures and replace them with winter pictures. Some people put up specific holiday pictures and décor. When you change pictures on the wall check to make sure the artwork hasn’t shifted, that the glass is clean inside and out. Glass that has a foggy look can be that way from the art and mats giving off gas which develops as a film on the inside of the glass. Are the screw eyes or d-rings that hold the wire securely in the wood frame and is the wire torn or frayed? Is the paper dust cover still intact? These are all simple, easy fixes for The Framemakers Team to handle for you. Most repairs along these lines only take a few days but are important for maintaining your art.

Winter is also an excellent time to revisit all your artwork. Maybe there is something you’d like to completely replace. Maybe you received a gift, have a special item or poster that you would like to have framed. Sometimes a piece just needs a new mat color because the old one has faded, or the room was repainted a different color. Yes, winter is a time for home. A time to make your home warm, comforting and beautiful with expert framing from The Framemakers.
